Your ramble

Findings, evidence, notes, sharing, retry and delete.

When you stop recording, Ramble opens your ramble at ramble.sh/r/ followed by a 12-character id. This page is that page. While Ramble reads your recording it shows the steps and how long it has taken. When the findings are ready, they appear in place.

What is on the page

  • A title and a short summary of what you showed.
  • The numbers: how many findings, how long the recording is, what you shared (whole screen, browser tab or window), and how long grading took.
  • The recording, with a track of markers under the video, one for each finding. Click a marker to jump to that moment. The colours match the kinds of finding. Download video saves the file.
  • The findings, one card each.
  • The transcript of what you said.
  • An "Agent document" link at the top. It is the same ramble as plain text for a coding agent. More below.

Findings and their evidence

A finding is one thing you said was wrong, missing or good. Each one has a kind: bug, feature, friction or praise. Each card shows:

  • Your words. The quote is taken from the transcript, word for word, with the time range you said it in, such as "Heard at 0:42 to 0:47". Click the time to jump the video there. The title is only a summary. The quote is the evidence.
  • Screenshots. One or more frames from the recording at that moment. If you showed different screens while you talked about one thing, Ramble can show a few of them, and the first is the main one.
  • A highlighted region. A box on the main screenshot. A solid box marks an element Ramble recognised. A dashed box marks where the screen changed, not an element it identified. Ramble can't see your clicks, so it shows you what changed on screen. Click a zoomed screenshot to see the full frame.
  • Expected and actual, when you described them.
  • Evidence badges, three short labels that say how well the finding is backed up:
BadgeWhat it tells you
Evidence completenessWhether Ramble finished checking the screenshot against your words: complete, partial, checking or failed.
Localization"Grounded" means a named element was found on the screenshot. "Candidate" means a frame was picked automatically and not matched to an element. "Unavailable" means there is no frame.
CorroborationWhat backs up your words: "localized evidence" (a recognised element), "screen signal" (the screen changed, or didn't, when you said it) or "narration only".

A finding without a screenshot is marked "Not available in captured video". If the whole recording came out black, a notice above the findings says so. See Troubleshooting.

Fixing a finding

  • Edit this finding lets you change the title, the description and the kind. The card then says "Edited by you" and lets you see the original. The evidence badges still describe the original wording.
  • Remove this finding takes it off the page and out of the agent document. It can't be undone.

The order of findings

By default findings follow the recording, in the order you said them. Switch to Suggested attention to put the ones that look most important first.

Suggested attention is not severity and not a confidence score. It ranks what you said about impact, whether something blocks you, how often it happens and how urgent you made it sound. Saying something twice or with feeling only breaks ties. Praise is left out of the ranking.

Each card has an Attention box with a number. Change it to move the finding. The others renumber from 1. This is the order in the agent document, not the position in the recording. An order you set yourself always wins over the suggested one.

Notes on a finding

Click a finding card to add a note, under "Anything to add for the agent?". A note is saved with the finding and printed in the agent document as a note from you. It doesn't change the finding or its evidence. Save an empty note to remove it.

Questions Ramble asks you

If Ramble wasn't sure about a finding, a banner near the top says "Needs your input" and counts the open questions. The card then shows One thing to clarify. If two things on screen were plausible, you pick one. Otherwise you answer in your own words. Your answer is saved as your clarification, and the original wording stays available. Ramble asks only about findings it really was unsure of, and often asks nothing.

Sharing and who can change what

Copy link to ramble copies the link to the page. That link is the whole handoff. Paste it to a coding agent, or to a person.

  • Anyone with the link can view the page, the video, the screenshots, the transcript and the findings. They don't need to sign in. Signing in doesn't make a ramble private.
  • Your narration audio file isn't served through the link. The video, which has your voice in it, is.
  • For an agent, the same link answers with plain text when the request asks for markdown. /r/ plus the id plus .md always gives the agent document, and so does the Agent document link on the page.

Copy as text copies that same agent document to your clipboard, so you can paste it into a chat assistant such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. Use it there instead of the link: a chat assistant's web tool can only read pages it has already fetched and stored, and a ramble link is private, so it can't open one. The pasted text is the public agent document and nothing else. If it is over about 100 KB, it is still copied and the page says it is long. The phone app has the same button, Copy text, at the bottom of a ramble. An assistant that supports MCP can read the ramble itself instead. See Coding agents.

Who can change a ramble depends on who owns it:

The rambleWho can delete, edit, remove, add notes, reorder, answer questions or retry
Recorded or uploaded while you were signed in, or moved into your accountOnly you, signed in as the owner. Anyone else with the link can view it. They don't see the edit, remove, reorder and delete controls. The page shows one line instead: "Only the owner can edit this ramble." If a change is refused anyway, the page shows the refusal's message.
Recorded while signed out and not yet moved into an accountAnyone with the link. Sign in in the browser that recorded it and it moves into your account. See Account.

A coding agent you connected can't delete, edit or retry your rambles either. It can only add its own notes and statuses. See What an agent can and cannot do.

Retry

If grading fails, the page says so and shows a Retry button. The text reads, for example, "The recording and transcript are safe. Press Retry to run the extraction pass again." Retry runs the reading again from what Ramble saved. It doesn't ask you to record anything. If it fails again, the page says why in plain words.

If a ramble finishes with no findings, the page explains why. It shows Retry when running it again could change the result.

Delete

Hold to delete ramble deletes the ramble: the video, the screenshots, your voice, the transcript and the findings. Hold the button until it fills. Letting go early cancels. There is no second copy to bring it back. Afterwards the link only says "This ramble was deleted".

Deleting also removes any copy Ramble set aside to improve the product. See Privacy in plain words. On a signed-in ramble only the owner can delete.

Ramble also removes rambles by itself 14 days after they are recorded. Your list of rambles shows how many days each one has left. Save what you want to keep before then. The agent document is plain text and copies cleanly.

What your agent did

If you are signed in as the owner of a ramble and a coding agent has worked on it, the page shows a Coding agents card, and agent details on the findings:

  • a summary line, such as "2 of 5 fixed · 1 in progress", or "No agent has looked";
  • a status chip on each finding it touched: planned, in progress, PR opened, fixed or won't fix, with the link and the note it left;
  • Claimed by an agent until a time, with a Release button if you want to take the claim back;
  • the project the ramble belongs to, with Set project or Change, and whether it was set by you, set by an agent, taken from a request or guessed from the recording;
  • the request this ramble answered, if an agent asked you to record it;
  • an Agent activity timeline, newest first, which you can expand.

Only you see this. People you share the link with see the page as if no agent had ever looked, and the plain-text agent document never includes it. Everything an agent writes is shown as plain text, so treat it as a note, not an instruction. The page refreshes by itself while you have it open. Your list of rambles at /mine shows the same project, summary, claim and request on each row.

How agents connect, and what they can do, is in Coding agents.
