Privacy in plain words

What is stored, where, for how long, and how to delete it.

This page is a plain summary. The Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service are the binding documents. If anything here seems to disagree with them, they win.

The short version

  • You record your screen and talk. Ramble turns that into findings.
  • Anyone who has the link to a ramble can see all of it, without signing in: the video, the screenshots, the transcript and the findings. Signing in doesn't make a ramble private.
  • Ramble uses recordings, and how people use it, to improve Ramble, including training its own models. You can opt out by email.
  • Ramble doesn't sell your data and doesn't use it for advertising. The companies that help run Ramble don't train their models on it.
  • On ramble.sh, rambles are removed after 14 days. You can delete yours sooner.

What is stored

WhatDetails
Your recordingThe screen video, screenshots taken from it, your voice, and the transcript. If you upload a video, that file too.
What Ramble makes from itFindings, titles, summaries, and any notes or edits you add.
Your account, if you sign in with GoogleYour name, email address and Google account ID. The phone app and the Mac app also keep a sign-in token for your account. The Mac app sends your Mac's name when you sign in so your devices can be told apart.
Usage and technical informationYour IP address, device and browser type, and how you use Ramble, from Ramble's own server logs. There are no third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
Cookies and browser storageOnly what Ramble needs: keeping you signed in, and the list of your rambles in your browser's storage. If you record without signing in, a cookie with a random ID counts how many rambles that browser has started. That is how the free allowance works.
What an agent writesNotes, statuses, links and record requests from a coding agent you connected. They are kept with the ramble they are about.

Record only what you have the right to record. A screen recording can capture anything on your screen, so don't show passwords, payment details or other secrets, and tell anyone whose voice or information may be captured.

Where it goes

Ramble runs in the United States. A few service providers process data for Ramble, only to run it: for example hosting and storage, speech-to-text, and the AI models that turn a ramble into findings. Each gets what its step needs, which can be your recording, its audio, screenshots or the transcript. They don't train their own models on your recordings. When you sign in with Google, Google gets your account details. Providers may change as Ramble changes; the privacy policy is the binding text.

How long it is kept

  • Rambles on ramble.sh are removed 14 days after they are recorded. Your list of rambles shows how many days each one has left. You can delete one sooner.
  • A set-aside copy may stay after that. See below.
  • Account details stay as long as your account exists.
  • The free-ramble count for a browser is kept until 400 days after that browser last started a ramble.
  • Server logs are kept for a limited time.
  • Aggregated or de-identified information, which no longer identifies you, may be kept indefinitely.

Training copies and opting out

When a ramble is removed after 14 days, Kiruna Labs may keep a copy of it: the recording, the audio, the screenshots, the transcript and the findings. It uses these copies to improve Ramble and to train models that Kiruna Labs develops and controls. They are kept in private storage and are never served on the web. Kiruna Labs doesn't create voiceprints or use your voice to identify you.

The copy is kept until you delete the ramble or your account, or opt out.

To opt out, email hello@kiruna.ai. If you are signed in, write from that address and it covers all your rambles. Otherwise include the links to the rambles you mean. Ramble then stops using them to train models and deletes any copies set aside. Training that has already happened can't be undone. You can keep using Ramble as before.

Deleting a ramble or your account

  • A ramble: open it and press and hold Hold to delete ramble. The video, screenshots, voice, transcript, findings, notes, any uploaded file, and any agent notes and requests are removed. A link to it afterwards says it was deleted. The set-aside copy is removed too. On a ramble that belongs to an account, only the owner can delete it. See Your ramble.
  • Your account: open Your rambles and choose Delete account. It deletes the account and every ramble it owns, and the set-aside copies of them. See Account.
  • By email: write to hello@kiruna.ai. You can also ask to see, correct or export your data. Ramble answers within 30 days.

A model that has already been trained on a recording can't be untrained.

A ramble's address, ramble.sh/r/ and then 12 characters, is the only thing standing between the world and your recording. Anyone who has it can open the page, play the video, see the screenshots and read the transcript and findings. Share it the way you would share a private document, and delete the ramble to take it down.

  • The address is also the key to the screenshots and the video. Ramble asks browsers not to pass a ramble's address to other sites when you click away.
  • Your narration as a separate audio file isn't served through the link. The video, which has your voice in it, is.
  • Notes, statuses and requests from a coding agent never appear on the public page or in the agent document.

Coding agents

If you sign in, you can connect a coding agent. Once you approve it, the agent can read the rambles in your account, including the findings, transcript text and screenshots. It can add notes and statuses to your findings and ask you to record a new ramble. It can't upload or record for you, or delete your account.

What an agent reads leaves ramble.sh for wherever the agent runs, under that agent's own terms, so connect only agents you trust. The notes, statuses, links and requests an agent writes are stored with the ramble they are about, shown only to you when you are signed in, and deleted when that ramble or your account is deleted. You can revoke an agent, or a token you made, under Connected agents on Your rambles. It stops working straight away. See Coding agents.
